Plarion have environmental ovens and a suite of analysis software to evaluate the robustness of a material or component under a range of harsh environmental conditions, and to predict a product’s lifetime by accelerated ageing.
Reliability Analysis
Reliability analysis techniques are designed to address questions such as:
- Does a product meet reliability specifications?
- How do the lifetime characteristics of two competing materials compare?
- How do design changes affect product reliability?
- What are the predicted warranty costs for a product?
Our facilities include a high reliability and accuracy Weiss environmental control oven, capable of a wide range of temperatures and relative humidities, with additional feed-throughs for voltage, power etc. Combining this with Minitab analysis software, and our multiple years experience of testing and analysis of many aspects of product reliability we may come to an accurate measure of the number of cycles, mileage, shelf life, archive life, operating time at a temperature/voltage/humidity, etc of a product.
Environmental Testing
In addition to reliability analysis, an environmental oven may be used to simulate accelerated ageing. The cycles of temperature and humidity to which the product under test is subjected, speeds up the failure process to obtain timely information where products are highly reliable.
The acceleration factors can include temperature, humidity, voltage, current, or pressure. The data on time to failure are extrapolated back to provide a formal analysis of product lifetime, of decades, or even hundreds of years under normal use conditions.
